March - ing Toward Springtime

March came in that winter like the meekest and mildest of lambs, bringing days that were crisp and golden and tingling, each followed by a frosty pink twilight which gradually lost itself in an elfland of moonshine. ~ LM Montgomery

Welcome dear friends and welcome March! Didn't Lucy Maud have such a way with words?

A few more weeks and Spring will be here. Yay!

This past week was a sad one when one of the family pets had to be put down. I shared pictures of our family pets a couple of weeks ago, and Spike, the dear little miniature pincher hadn't been well since Christmas. I had a feeling his days were numbered. He was such a sweet little pup and he will be missed. This photo of him was taken last summer.

This is one reason why hubby and I don't have a fur baby. I couldn't bear it if something should happen to it.

My sweet hubby surprised me with some lovely soft pink tulips the other day but I waited too long to set my tea table and they're on their way out.

Aren't they the prettiest shade of pink?

My flowers today are a beautiful bouquet that was presented to me at our elder's dinner the other night. Our elders have a dinner once a year and the wives are always given a bouquet of posies.

I am using my pink Ganz teapot.

A pretty cup made in France sits on a Bridal Rose saucer; a miss-matched set I found at a yard sale years ago.

A teacup and saucer made in Germany, Bridal Rose. These are very dainty and so pretty. I haven't used them in a while so I thought I would use them today. The cup is so comfortable to hold.

A group of us are reading through the Mitford series written by Jan Karon. I'm supposed to be on the third book but I'm slow so I'm still in book two, A Light in the Window.

I love this quaint series set in a small community. Have any of you read them?

It's a simple tea today to just simply relax and enjoy a quiet respite. It's been a busy week with appointments and other things that kept us running around.

Before I go, I want to ask a question. How do you translate a comment left on your blog in another language? I have tried over and over, searched the gadgets, and I can find nothing to translate a comment into English. Does anyone else have this problem?

PS- Thank you everyone for your comments on the translation thing. I have it figured out now.

Thank you for visiting Rose Chintz Cottage and have a lovely day. I wish you JOY!

I am joining the following parties as well~

  1. Indeed it's sad to part from a beloved pet. We went through that a few times. Absolutely beautiful china! The soft and delicate pink of the pot is just marvelous. When we lived in Africa (missionaries) we knew a doctors wife from the US (missionaries) that loved Jan Karon. Beautiful flowers and table!

  2. Oh Sandi, what a sweet pink teatime for today! The tulips and the posies look ever so pretty with the teacups and teapot. I am so sorry about Spike. I know he will be sorely missed.
I have read the Mitford series years ago, and just loved the characters, and the setting...such a dear, little town.
As for translations on our blogs, I'm sorry, but I don't have an answer to that. I hope someone can help you out. Have a beautiful week, dear friend.

  4. I'm sorry for the loss of your family pet. We had a snowstorm on March 1st, but the snow melted pretty quickly. I'm also counting down to the days of spring.

The bouquet that you received is so pretty! I'm also admiring your dainty pink teapot and teacup.

I've never read the Mitford series. I'm currently reading a novel called, "Mrs Queen Takes The Train", which I found at the Dollar store. The fictional book about Queen Elizabeth caught my eye because it had a teacup on the cover.

When I get a comment written in a foreign language on my blog, I copy and paste the comment into "Google Translate" (https://translate.google.ca/)

  5. So sorry for the loss of the sweet family pup. I know he will be missed.
I have read ALL of the Mitford series of books by Jan Karon. I loved them all. I have a friend who gives me each new book when it comes out either for Christmas or my birthday, whichever time is closest...and then we both read the books...but I am the "keeper" of the books at my house. I love to go back and re-read them occasionally. I love your flowers and the delicate pink teacups and tea pot. Perfect for a spring day! (well, almost spring!) As far as translating goes, your friend's comment above is helpful. I thought there was a way to set up translations in our blogger comment layout, but I'd have to go back and study that before I could say for sure. Thank you for this delightful tea time. I feel refreshed after being here. Have a blessed and beautiful week.

  6. I just looked at my Settings in blogger and if you look at Settings, then look at "Language and Formatting" in the menu, it gives you the option of setting up your blog so that it can be translated. I would assume that would also apply for the comments. It's worth a try!

  8. Hi Sandi,
The Mitford series is the best! So sorry about your family pet, it is so hard to make that decision but it was done in love.
The way I translated the Spanish message on your blog (by Pili Fleitas) was that I highlighted it,copied it, then pasted it in an online translator.

Hello my dear little sister Sandi, I am very sorry for the death of your spike🐢, surely our beloved God has a very beautiful place for all the animals. I love tulips and the bouquet of flowers, they are beautiful. The teapot and cups and plates are a charm. Beautiful friend, I have the translator installed, so when I enter a blog that is not Spanish, instantly, I'm translated into Spanish. Of course, my comments are one of those that you need to translate πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. Whenever I enter your lovely blog, it is instantly translated into Spanish. I hope and wish that you have found a way to translate the comments into English. Many little kisses my dear sister, God bless you and your beautiful family πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ™πŸ™πŸ’–πŸ’πŸ’–πŸ’

  10. I am sorry about Spike. We lost our cat over a year ago and still is a constant ache. We won't be having another pet...can't take the pain! But on a lighter note, I love your wonderful teacups and Jan Karon is a favorite author. I love her books! The flowers are lovely. Definitely brings a spot of joy! Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

  14. Ruth, sorry about Spike. That's one of the reasons I didn't have a cat for many years (and wouldn't now). Then several years ago a neighbor's cat adopted us! So now we have a Part-Time Cat! I read one of the Mitford books (loaned by a friend) years ago and really enjoyed it. Have always intended to read more, but never have. Must remedy that now! I especially like your mis-matched cup and saucer.

  16. Dear Sandi:
What lovely tulips and bouquet. Even iris - and with all that snow it makes it even more special to have fresh flowers. I have to say - it is snowing here too! I saw many bulbs popping out this week but now we have snow. Lovely snow though. I guess we feel the same about a dog but perhaps the expense of one is something we have not forgotten as our dog always seemed to be getting hurt, etc and the bills were large. I do understand man's best friend and man's love for him! This was a sweet posting. Thanks for sharing.

  17. I love that Bridal Rose pattern. I have one salad plate in that pattern, and it's one of my favorites. I'm a slow reader, too, and am always rushing to get my book read for book club. I know you are looking forward to spring, I am too. March always feels like such a long month! Hope you're feeling well. xo
